Turkish tenor Murat Karahan graduated from
Bilkent University: Department of Music and Performing Arts (2003). That same
year he gained admission to the Ankara State Opera and Ballet. He then also
began his master’s degree program at Bilkent University, Institution of Music
and Performing Arts.
In 2005, he traveled to Rome at the invitation of
Italian Conductor Marco Berdondini, who served as guest conductor of the Ankara
Opera. He successfully completed his Master’s degree in 2005, and was then
admitted into the doctorate program. In 2005 he became a soloist of the Ankara
State Opera and Ballet.
In 2009-2010, Mr. Murat Karahan took master
classes from Renata Scotto, Anna Vandi and Cesare Scarton at the Accademia di
Santa Cecilia, where he also studied with Professor Bruno Cagli. In 2010 he
received his Doctorate in Musical Arts.
His repertoire includes Rodolfo (La
Boheme), Alfredo (La Traviata), Macduff (Macbeth), Don
Ottavio (Don Giovanni), Edgardo (Lucia di Lammermoor), tenor
parts in Mozart’s Requiem, Orf’s Carmina Burana, Webber’s Requiem,
Beethoven’s 9th Symphony etc.
