Born
in Moscow in 1970.
Graduated
from the Russian Academy of Theatre Arts (GITIS).
Has
staged a number of drama and opera performances in Russia and abroad.
He
has also been the set and costume designer for almost all of his
productions.
Recipient
of many Russian theatre prizes. Awards include the International Stanislavsky
Prize and Russia´s Golden
Mask theatre prize 2002,2004,
2005 and 2008).

Tchaikovsky´s Eugene
Onegin (both Bolshoi Theatre,
Moscow), Verdi´s Aida (Novosibirsk Opera), Musorgsky´s Boris
Godunov(Staatsoper Unter den Linden, Berlin), Musorgsky´s Khovanshchina (Bayerische Staatsoper, Munich),
Prokofiev´s The
Gambler (Staatsoper Unter den
Linden, Berlin), Shostakovich´s Lady
Macbeth of Mtsensk (Deutsche
Oper am Rhein) and Prokofiev´s The
Gambler (Teatro alla Scala,
Milan).
At
the Mariinsky Theatre he has staged the operas The
Legend of the Invisible City of Kitezh and the Maiden Fevronia by Rimsky-Korsakov (2001), A
Life for the Tsar by Glinka
(2004) and Tristan
und Isolde by Wagner
(2005).
