Sergey Lysenko (Conductor)
Sergey Lysenko (10.12.1960–10.05.2018), Conductor, choirmaster, general director in 2003–2012, is an Honoured Artist of Russia, a RF State Prize winner. Graduate of the Moscow State Conservatory, Sergey Lysenko worked as a choirmaster at the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Academic Musical Theatre. Sergey Lysenko has been working with Evgeny Kolobov and Natalya Popovich since the theatre’s foundation in 1991.
Over the last few years, he has been acting not only as a choirmaster, but also as an operatic and symphonic conductor and the music director of a number of the theatre‘s productions, including Glinka‘s Ruslan and Lyudmila, Donizetti‘s Maria Stuarda, O Mozart! Mozart… (based on Rimsky-Korsakov‘s Mozart and Salieri, and Mozart‘s Requiem) and Verdi‘s Requiem.
As a choirmaster Sergey Lysenko has participated in 15 CD recordings of the Novaya Opera Theatre. He has been the director of the theatre since 1998.
Sergey Lysenko represents the Novaya Opera Theatre in the International European Operatic Community.
