Andrei Arkhipov (Bass)

Biography

Born in Moscow. After graduating from the Moscow State Institute of Electronics and Mathematics, he entered first the Musical College of the Moscow State Conservatoire, then the Conservatoire itself. In 2006 he graduated from the Conservatoire (Pyotr Skusnichenko’s class) and in 2009 finished his post-graduate course there.
Since 2010 he has been a soloist with the Conservatoire’s Opera Theatre where he sang Gremin, Zaretsky (Eugene Onegin), Bertran (Iolanta), Frost, Bermyata, Carnival (The Snow Maiden), Malyuta Skuratov, Sobakin (The Tsar’s Bride), Bartolo (Le Nozze di Figaro), Dr. Grenvil, Marquis (La Traviata). 

From 1998 to 2010, Andrei was a member of the Bolshoi Theatre Mime Ensemble. Since 2004 he has been performing as an opera soloist. The parts he sang include: 
Officer (The Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk)
French Officer, Napoleon’s aide de camp, Jacquot (War and Peace)
Bedyay (The Legend of the Invisible City of Kitezh and of the Maiden Fevronia)
Malyuta Skuratov (The Tsar’s Bride)
Kudma, Potap (The Enchantress)

He participated in the premiere and recording of Issei Tsukamoto’s O-Natsu (the part of Sajiemon). 
With the Russian Conservatoire Chamber Chorus he took part in a recording of little-known choral works by Georgy Sviridov (conductor Nikolai Khondzinsky). 
He took part in the New Names and Musical Evenings on Lake Seliger musical festivals. 

Prize-winner at the All-Russian vocal competition.
