Ludmila Golub (Organist)

Ludmila Golub graduated from the Moscow Conservatory, where she studied piano, organ, and harpsichord in the classes of Professor Roizman. Well known as an organ soloist in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and elsewhere in Russia, she participates in many international festivals.

Golub’s recital repertoire includes the major works for organ by Bach, Mozart, Brahms, and Frank. It also includes concerti for organ and orchestra by Handel, Bach, Mozart, Salieri, Haydn, Poulenc, Hindemith, Krenek, Mansurian, and Slonimsky. Golub is particularly fond of twentieth century music and has given the Russian premieres of compositions by Ives, Messiaen, Jolivet, Ligeti, Kagel, and others. A highly regarded premiere this season was her performance of French music for piano and organ (with Nikolai Petrov).

Ludmila Golub frequently performs works for organ by such Russian composers as Shostakovich, Shnittke, Denisov, Gubaidulina, Slonimsky, Shchedrin, Yekimovsky, and others. Her repertoire also includes compositions for instruments accompanied by organ, including violin, cello, trumpet, trombone, oboe, and other instruments, and she collaborates with the renowned Russian pianist, Tigran Alikhanov, in programs of classical and contemporary works for piano duo.

She has performed the organ part in many concerts given by the Moscow Philharmonic, several of which included world premieres of symphonies by Gubaidulina and others, as well as Schnittke’s Requiem. In these and other performances, she has appeared under the batons of such well-known conductors as G.Rozhdestvensky, E.Svetlanov, V.Sinaisky, P.Kogan, D.Kitayenko, A Lazarev, Y.Menuhin, and P.Boulez. As soloist and orchestral musician, she has made tours to France, Germany, Great Britain, The Czech Republic, Finland, and other countries.
