Dimitris Tiliakos (Baritone)

Greek baritone Dimitris Tiliakos was born in Rhodos and first studied viola at the Athens conservatory, before he took up his singing lessons with Kostas Paskalis. In 1996 he got a scholarship of the Maria Callas Foundation and finalized his studies with Daphne Evangelatos at the Musikhochschule in Munich. Shortly thereafter he made his German stage debut at the Prinzregententheatre in Munich in the role of Count Almaviva in Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro and was awarded the Willi Domgraf-Fassbaender-Prize for young opera singers. Beetween 1997 and summer 2003 Tiliakos was a member of the Nuremberg Opera, where he performed the major parts of the lyrical baritone repertory but also received great appreciation in roles such as Escamillo, Germont and di Luna. Since 2003 he has been freelancing and quickly made a name for himself through a series of guest performances in his native country and abroad, including the most important opera houses and concert halls of his native Greece: the Greek National Opera and the Megaron in Athens, the Epidaurus Festival and the Megaron in Thessaloniki. In recent seasons he appeared with great success at the Opera-Bastille in Paris, the Royal Opera House in London, the Opera de Monte Carlo, the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, the Teatr Wielki in Warsaw and many other prestigious theatres. His projects for 2010/11 include his debut at the Metropolitan Opera.
