Orchestra: Osipov National Folk Instruments Orchestra

Details TBA

It is difficult to overestimate the importance that the National Academic Orchestra of Folk Instruments of Russia im. N.P. Osipova has for the Russian musical culture. The collective is rightly considered the national treasure of Russia, its "visiting card". The special sound of folk instruments, the culture of sound, the highest level of professional skill allow the orchestra to occupy an honorable place among a number of unique phenomena of Russian art. For today the collective is one of the most famous and authoritative orchestras not only in Russia, but also abroad. In this concert season, the celebrated team turned 95 years old.

The history of the orchestra named after N. Osipov is full of triumphs, constant search for perfection and unexpected twists of fate. The orchestra was created in 1919. This period coincided with the growing interest in the revival of Russian folk music. The sources of the orchestra were S. Sobolev, A. Ilyukhin, S. Alekseev and B. Troyanovsky. Along with numerous concerts for the soldiers of the Red Army, on July 15, 1919, the first concert took place on the concert stage (the former "Alekseevsky People's House") for the residents of the city, with the participation of the choir under the direction of M. Yuhov (now the A. Chapel Choir A. Yurlov "). B. Troyanovsky, who invited a group of professional musicians led by P. Alekseev, helped in the formation of the young collective and the increase of its skill and authority. In 1920, the "Special Meeting" took place in which B. Troyanovsky managed to prove the exclusivity and viability of the artistic composition of the orchestra of folk instruments of the Andreev type. Counting his mission to create a team performed, B. Troyanovsky gives the management of the orchestra P. Alekseev, and leaves for a long tour of the country, continuing to keep in touch with the orchestra.

Under P. Alekseev (1919-1940) in 1921 the collective receives the status of the "State I Moscow Great-Russian Orchestra". In 1924, among the first musical groups, the orchestra took an active part in music broadcasting at the Moscow radio studio, and in 1930 was accepted into the staff of the All-Russian Radio Committee, which allowed to enter the large "concert stage" of the whole country. During this period the collective is called: "Orchestra of Mass Instruments". In 1936, according to the results of the competition, among the best artistic collectives of the country, the orchestra goes under the jurisdiction of the All-Union Arts Committee, and receives the name "The State Orchestra of Folk Instruments of the USSR". P. Alekseev laid the foundations of orchestral performing skills, which over the years improved and developed, increased the number of the collective to 80 people, organized and supported the work of amateur groups. It was Peter Alexeev, the first of the musicians of the populists, who was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1934).

In 1939, the People's Artist of the USSR, the conductor of the Bolshoi Theater, Professor N. Golovanov became the artistic director. Under his leadership, the orchestra performed for the first time the symphonic overture "Romeo and Juliet" by P. Tchaikovsky, the first symphony of V. Kalinnikov, "Polovtsian Dances" from the opera "Prince Igor" by A. Borodin, "Flight of the Bumblebee" from the opera "The Tale of Tsar Saltan". Rimsky-Korsakov. As an outstanding symphonic conductor, who has great authority in the music world, N. Golovanov felt the need to expand the musical palette of the orchestra. For the first time in the orchestra people's wind instruments began to sound: zhaleyki and flutes. N. Golovanov was able to prove that the issue of reforming in the orchestra has matured and requires a further solution, which was fully implemented by the brothers Nikolai and Dmitry Osipov.

On the recommendation of N. Golovanov, in 1940 an outstanding musician and virtuoso-balalaika player N. Osipov became the artistic director and conductor of the orchestra. From the first days of his work, he boldly enriches the orchestra with original Russian folk instruments: Vladimir horns, zhaleyki, bregles, introduced a group of orchestral harmonics and folk percussion instruments (trifle, rubel, kokoshnik, bells, tambourines, etc.). For the first time in the concert practice of the orchestra, folk instruments were used as soloists: after the balalaikas and domras, gusli, accordion, expressive duets and unison bands began to sound. In 1941 the Great Patriotic War begins and most of the musicians went to the front. While an order is issued to stop all concert activity in Moscow and evacuate art workers of theaters and music groups, N. Osipov, decides to keep the orchestra as a musical unit even in small groups. The orchestra again sounds on the radio for the soldiers of all fronts. Army paint, small compositions and soloists of the band perform in hospitals, conscription stations, train stations, military units and on the nearest lines of the front, as well as take part in defensive measures. Along with the ongoing work, N. Osipov continues to intercede for the full restoration of the collective, which allowed the return of many outstanding musicians from the front and rear. In August 1942 the restored orchestra received the status of the "State Orchestra of Russian Folk Instruments". Particular attention N. Osipov devotes to the creation of a new concert repertoire of the orchestra, replenishing with new musical works with a pronounced national storehouse. A processing of folk songs, created by V. Gorodovskaya and V. Ditel, still enter the gold repertoire of the orchestra. May 9, 1945 N. Osipov goes out of life, and at the head of the team becomes his brother, a talented pianist and conductor - D. Osipov. In 1946, in memory of the outstanding merits of N. Osipov, the orchestra was given his name.

D. Osipov continues to develop the artistic principles of V. Andreev and N. Osipov, widely propagandizing Russian musical art. A great help in this D. Osipov, as conductors have - P. Kulikov, V. Gnutov, N. Budashkin, P. Necheporenko. Particular attention D. Osipov devotes a Russian song. Along with the famous opera singers - in. Barsova, M. Maksakova and others - a great place in the concert programs took the propogandists of Russian folk songs - L. Ruslanova and A. Smetankin. Taking into account the increased technical and artistic means of the orchestra, D. Osipov replenishes the repertoire with new original works, attracts to the work with the collective of Soviet composers - M. Ippolitov-Ivanov, S. Vasilenko, R. Glier, N. Budashkina, P. Kulikova, A. Novikova , A. Holminov and others, who create a number of works especially for the orchestra of folk instruments. New successes were marked by the first foreign tours in the German Democratic Republic, Hungary, Romania, Czechoslovakia, Austria.

At different times the orchestra was directed by V. Smirnov, V. Gnutov, V. Dubrovsky, N. Kalinin. Behind the orchestra conductor there were such outstanding conductors and musicians as N. Golovanov, N. Anosov, A. Gauk, G. Rozhdestvensky, V. Dudarova, V. Fedoseev and many others. Years of cooperation with masters of the highest level formed a special handwriting of the orchestra, which made him recognizable among others and brought world fame.

A new page in the history of the orchestra was opened by V. Dubrovsky, whom his contemporaries called the "Russian genius". With him, the performing skills of musicians of the Russian orchestra reached unprecedented quality. In the arrangement for the orchestra of folk instruments, the most complicated works of Russian, Western and Soviet classics were performed: G. Rossini, F. Mendelssohn, R. Schumann, I. Brahms, M. Glinka, M. Mussorgsky, I. Stravinsky, A. Khachaturyan, D Shostakovich, G. Sviridov, R. Shchedrin. Convincing artistic interpretations won over listeners, revealing an amazing beauty of the sound of folk instruments. In 1969 the illustrious collective rightfully received the honorary title of "Academic".

Years of cooperation N. Kalinin and the orchestra. NP Osipova - years of inspirational and, at the same time, thoughtful, painstaking work. N. Kalinin defined three basic principles of the orchestra's activity: the highest professionalism, a bright, original repertoire and, of course, enlightening work. In1996, for outstanding contribution to the development of the national musical art of Russia, the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation renamed the State Academic Russian People's Orchestra named after N. Osipov the National Academic Orchestra of National Instruments of Russia named after N. Osipov.

From January 2005 to April 2009 the collective was headed by People's Artist of Russia, Professor V. Ponkin. During his leadership in the folk instrumental manner of playing the orchestra, the features of symphonic performance were introduced.

In April 2009, the People's Artist of Russia, Professor Vladimir Pavlovich Andropov, as well as N. Golovanov, the conductor of the Bolshoi Theater of Russia, took the post of artistic director and chief conductor of the orchestra, which could not fail to affect the quality and virtuosity of performing and special creative writing. The cooperation with the soloists of the State Academic Bolshoi Theater of Russia was revived again.

As a result of many years of concert practice, the orchestra has formed a friendly and creative atmosphere around itself. The team constantly cooperates with leading musicians - vocalists, instrumentalists, composers and conductors, and with young performers. In different years with the orchestra there were outstanding masters: singers I. Arkhipov, V. Levko, L. Ruslanova, I. Bogachev, I. Petrov, A. Ognivtsev, I. Rebrov, H. Ots, H. Pisarenko, J.
