Andrew Foster-Williams (Bass-baritone)
Andrew Foster-Williams studied at and is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of
Music, London.
Recent and future opera highlights include Telramund Lohengrin for La
Monnaie, Brussels; Balstrode Peter Grimes for Theater an der Wien; Escamillo
Carmen for Bregenz Festival; title role in Don Quixotte for Opera National de
Bordeaux; Donner and Gunther in Opera North’s Wagner Ring Cycle in 2016; and Don
Pizarro Fidelio for Theatre an der Wien and Philharmonie de Paris.
Concert plans include Mendelssohn Elijah with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra
and Nicholas McGegan with whom Andrew will also appear in concerts including
music by Bach and Mendelssohn; Janacek Glagolitic Mass with Orchestre
Métropolitain Montreal and Yannick Nézet-Séguin; Bach St Matthew Passion
(Christus) with the Philadelphia Orchestra; Mahler Symphony No 8 for the Leeds
International Concert Series; Bach St John Passion (Christus and arias) with the
Cleveland Orchestra and Franz Welser-Möst and Haydn The Seasons with Paul
McCreesh and the Gabrieli Consort on a European tour and recording.

in Rossini Mosé in Egitto for Welsh National Opera; Pizarro Fidelio for Opera
North; Fenice in Handel Deidamia and Hidraot in Gluck Armide for Dutch National
Opera; Albert in Werther for Washington National Opera; title role William Tell
in Bad Wildbad; Nick Shadow The Rake’s Progress for Opéra National de Lorraine;
Balstrode Peter Grimes and Deborah Warner’s staging of Messiah for Lyon Opera;
Count Figaro at the Beaune Festival; Golaud Pelléas et Mélisande, Villains in
Les Contes d’Hoffman in Moscow.
